  Update check without the GitHub API (no more 403)

  v0.8.5 only fixed the Apply path; Check still queried
  api.github.com/releases/latest, which is rate-limited to 60/hr
  unauthenticated and was returning 403 — so detection "fell off" (the
  manual button found nothing).

  Check now resolves the latest tag from the HTML redirect
  github.com///releases/latest → …/releases/tag/ (web pages
  aren't under the API rate limit), and builds the asset + checksums URLs
  from our CI's well-known release-download pattern (objects CDN, also
  un-rate-limited). The whole update flow — detect, checksum, download —
  no longer touches api.github.com, so the rate limit can't break it.
